Respect

respect

We are receiving a kingdom that can’t be shaken. So let us be thankful. Then we can worship God in a way that pleases him. Let us worship him with deep respect and wonder. Hebrews 12:28 NIRV

Servant Warriors Develop Reverence

Reverence is an amazing thing for a Servant Warrior of God to develop. Reverence springs out of a deep respect for God and it blossoms into and AWE of Him that keeps our gaze looking towards Him more and more. As God’s servant leadership, we need to stay in a vital-vertical relationship with Him. A developed AWE of God is the best way to keep our hearts wholly-holy aligned with our God. Reverence initiates in God’s servant warriors, a deep desire to obey God, to please Him from every moment to every choice of our lives. As God’s servant warriors, we live to give to Him and our sacrifices are made reverently to an audience of One, only to Him and out of reverence, respect and awe of Him.

Respect Is A Pursued Characteristic Of A Servant Warrior

For a servant warrior, one of our main goals is to have a reverent heart, we chase after this characteristic as if it were gold. Respect is a very valuable commodity to a servant leader. Reverence is never achieved if respect is not activated in your relationship with God. A heartfelt obedience is also pretty much impossible without reverence. So respect, reverence and obedience are pretty much a pyramid where the bottom platform is always respect. The enemy of our soul has a mandate not to keep us from being obedient, but to take out respect, because without it a servant warrior cannot fight a good fight of faith. If our enemy can eradicate respect, he will collapse reverence and do away completely with obedience. Obedience is a necessity for an atmosphere filled with the Presence of God’s power, and it is God’s power that is the spark of life, the passion of purpose behind every servant leader.

Servant Warriors Don’t Command Respect They Earn It

God does not command our respect because of Who He is, He earned it because of Who He is being. Respect is not something we can demand or command, it has to be earned. Jesus has definitely earned our respect, a respect that grows into a deep wonder, an awed reverence that grows into a heartfelt obedience. We can’t demand respect from people, in fact, when we do, we are seen to be a fool. Respect only flows out of relationship, we respect that which we are intimately related too. It goes to say that kids who have not paid for something don’t respect it, they treat it badly because they did not have to pay for it. When you invest in something, you respect it more and most. The attitude of respect yields a reverent atmosphere, where obedience flows heartily.

“Reverence is an aspect of adoration, it is the true response that leads to worship to all that come before God. It is recognizing and honoring the authority of God with awe and fear because He is God, and He is more awesome than anything or anyone–period. It also means respecting people, not just because of their position and authority, but as brothers and sisters in the Lord, regardless of their personality, and knowing He loves them too!” Author~Dr. Richard J. Krejcir

Servant Warriors Are Soul-Saturated With God’s Mercy

In our relationship with God, respect goes both ways. Our Father God has totally respected us by giving us a free will and we must respect Him back by using our free will in ways that bring honor to Him and glory to His Kingdom. Respect goes both ways. Mercy is an incredible gift, but it is also an action of respect, a way God shows His respect for our broken humanity. We have a human condition and God esteems us, by extending His Mercy to us. The respect of God adds infinite value to our finite nature. God does this freely, it is His choice to continue to extend mercy to us and we reverently receive this mercy that impacts our human condition with a powerful miraculous edge. Respect goes both ways, it is mercy given, it is mercy received and re-gifted through reverential obedience.

Servant Warriors Evoke Christ-Like Characteristics

Jesus is an extension of the mercy of God. God’s respect for our humanity is so far reaching, that His Grace covers all of us. God respects us and we need to respect Him back. Respect is not true unless it becomes a circle of life from God to us and back again. Respect is a give-give state of being found in Christ and it evokes the characteristics of Christ in us. No matter what Jesus was going through, He had a civility towards people that was nothing short of miraculous. Jesus never picked up an offense or wore the bitterness of betrayal. The circle of life from God’s heart to our heart, that continual nurturing of His Holy Spirit to our spirit, is The Vine of His life and attached to Him, we are fed the respect, reverence, awe, civility, honor, humility, meekness and love of God continuously and when we are wounded by the world, the blood of Jesus flows directly into our wound as we stay in a vital-vertical relationship with Him and we can be a wounded warrior, a servant leader who endures, fights a good clean, civil, wise fight until the end.

Servant Warriors Are Not Hampered By Disrespect

We are disrespected by the world as Christians because we do not have a relationship with the world. We are in the world, but not of it. We are not investing in the world, we are investing in God’s Kingdom. You tend to have more respect, reverence, awe and obedience towards someone who is invested in you, heart to heart than you do someone who is just an acquaintance. It is not fun to sin alone, so sinners love company and they respect those who do as they do. We are not only disrespected by the world, we are hated by the world because what we do right convicts them of what they are doing wrong. Disrespect ushers in dark time where civility is blanketed, yet servant warriors of God are light bearers that shatters the darkness of lawlessness within the bounds of respect. We are not mean, we are not cruel, we are not name callers, we do not judge, we live truth and we stand firmly on Kingdom precepts, speaking them in love. The true power behind truth is not from an emotional source, it is from the Holy Spirit of God, a power the freely flows when it is not hampered by disrespect. The disrespected servant warrior does not pick up an offense and fight with this impulsive reaction, they pick up the sword of God, and respond with the word of truth and wield it respectfully with great love.

Servant Warriors Add Value To God’s Kingdom

If someone has gained your respect, it is probably because you have invested in them, you have added value to their lives. God has added great value to our lives, He has invested in us in a great way, by sending His Son, Jesus to die for us, to reconcile us back to Him. God has a vested respect in us. Do we return it? Do we respect God with our life style choices? Is the respect God has for humanity being reciprocated by us? Do we use our free will to respect and reverence God or do we use it to gain respect from the world? What is more important to us, the respect of this world or the respect of God? One is temporary, one is permanent. Which one are you vested in?

Dig Deeper

“We gather our tribe and judge everyone who is not in it, this is not finding true identity, we find and become Who we are in Christ, in relationship with Him. The people we give grace too and the people we judge harshly did not create us and can’t give us our identity, only God can. Invite the Holy Spirit into your life and let Him change you from the inside out, so there is no need for a false self, what is coming out of us is from the inside and is true.” Commentary By: Brian Hardin Daily Audio Bible

“Wisdom is a rare commodity. Paul urges believers, then and now, to walk wisely. It involves living well every day. Time itself seems to be co-opted by dark forces. But when believers understand God’s will, avoid drunkenness, and allow God to fill them with His Spirit, they are able to walk wisely and live well. The Spirit-filled life is not just for a special few; it is the normal Christian life, and it affects everything, including how we live in community and how we treat others at home.” And the Spirit makes it possible to submit humbly to one another out of respect for the Anointed.
