Verbal Trickery

Proverbs 4:20-27 My son, pay attention to all the words I am telling you. Lean in closer so you may hear all I say. Keep them before you; meditate on them; set them safely in your heart. For those who discover them, they are life. They bring wholeness and healing to their bodies. Above all else, watch over your heart; diligently guard it because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life. Do away with any talk that twists and distorts the truth; have nothing to do with any verbal trickery. Keep your head up, your eyes straight ahead, and your focus fixed on what is in front of you. Take care you don’t stray from the straight path, the way of truth, and you will safely reach the end of your road. Do not veer off course to the right or the left; step away from evil, and leave it behind. The Voice

Stay Away From Verbal Trickery

Verbal trickery is such a commonly used thing to sway people away from truth. The enemy wants us to walk on the wrong side of truth, his side of cunning deceit. We have to be so careful with our hearts. Who has the attention of your ears? What type of person are they? Do they have the fruit of God’s character in their life? If you stick to the ways of the Word, you should never be listening to someone who is talking up assumptions and acting out of another person’s opinions.

No Assumptions

Assumptions are not truth, they are not validated. When we step out on an assumption we are stepping into the sinking sand of deceit, and we are led by verbal trickery down a path that won’t end well. If you are on the wrong side of truth it is because you have followed the path of an assumption.

Yes Wholesome Purity

We must always keep God’s Word at the forefront of our minds so our gait is paced to walk in truth and by truth. The rhythm of our lives, sets up the characteristics of our life legacy. Will our life legacy be marked by wholesome purity, or will we have a damaged reputation because we followed after an assumption that led us to the wrong side of truth.

A Pure Heart

At the root of every noble person is a sincerity that is guarded by truth. A pure heart is washed in purity of truth every single day and does not stray from the wisdom contained within it. We listen to God, yes we listen up first and that is why we are not swayed off the path of truth, we are on the right side of truth because we never veer off the course set by the Kingdom precepts posted at the barriers of our lives.

Verbal Trickery Defames

A person who uses verbal trickery is such a smooth talker. Deceivers seem easy to believe as they spew out their cunning deceit, deception that has the motive of veering you off the course of truth to the wrong side of truth. Verbal trickery always defames others and it does so by the vehicle of blame. Of course when blame is at work, it lames everyone in its path. There are no winners in the blame game, it leaves a path of lame people in its wake.

Take Thoughts Captive

We must take all thoughts captive that are not set in truth. Assumptions, presumptions, rationalizations, these are all untrue. A mind that has untrue things set in place creates a soul atmosphere of distortion, confusion and strife. These three things create a cycle of sin where the door of your soul is then open to very negative things such as gossip, jealousy, twisted truth, spun lies, distorted opinions, bitterness, hate and many other dysfunctional deceitful things.

Guard Your Heart

Set up your mind to be a place of truth and this puts a guard at your heart, keeping any kind of twisted unreality out of your heart. Your mind is a place of truthful reality. If it is not true, if you don’t know it to be truth, then kick it out. No thinking allowed here that is not based on truth. If you don’t know it to be true, then it is not true. If someone is asking you to believe an assumption, then you are replacing reality with unreality. The enemy lurks ever so deceptively and divisively in our unreality. What if? This is the enemy’s specialty. When we “think” but we don’t really know, this is where our mind leads our heart to dysfunctional living.

Musing On God’s Truth

Guard your heart from every untruth. How? By daily posting the truth of God at the doorposts of your heart. The thoughts of our mind should be truth based. This is something we need to desperately work on. We must set a goal to have a truth orientated thought base. The way to begin making this a spiritual habit is to start meditating and musing on God’s truth. We must begin to let the truth of God roll around in our minds producing thoughts that are truth based. I call this miraculous musing. Taking a scripture from the Bible and just thinking on it in every way possible, letting it run through the corridors of your mind and think, think and think on it. More than anything in our mediatic frenzy kind of world, where truth is spun into every kind of deceptive trickery imagined, we need a mind that is God truth based. Our mind should have an atmosphere where our thoughts supernaturally spring from a Kingdom perspective instead of a mind overwhelmed and confused by worldly viewpoints and cultural opinions.

Think On These Things And Set New Spiritual Habits:

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]..

Psalm 1:1-6 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; English Standard Version

Amplified Bible

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. New Living Translation

Titus 2:11-12 We have cause to celebrate because the grace of God has appeared, offering the gift of salvation to all people. 12 Grace arrives with its own instruction: run away from anything that leads us away from God; abandon the lusts and passions of this world; live life now in this age with awareness and self-control, doing the right thing and keeping yourselves holy. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. ESV
