Families Experiencing True Thanksgiving

Psalm 100

Know perceive, recognize, and understand with approval that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves and we are His! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name! For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations. Amplified Bible

True Thanksgiving! God, we are truly thankful that You, Who have formed our bodies are also the Father of our spirit. This Psalm is such a strong invitation to worship You, God our Father. Our Families should be devoted to You, coming into Your Presence, attending to our personal relationship with You and serving you with happiness and joy!

True Thanksgiving! We must be willing and forward to it, glad when we are called to go up to the house of the Lord (Psalm 122:1 ), looking upon it as the comfort of our lives to have communion with God; and we must be pleasant and cheerful in it, must say, It is good to be here, approaching to God, in every duty, as to God our exceeding Joy, (Psalm 43:4) We must come before his presence with singing, not only songs of joy, but songs of praise and songs of thanksgiving. Matthew Henry Commentary Psalm 100

True Thanksgiving! The Lord is good, and therefore does good; his mercy is everlasting; it is a fountain that can never be drawn dry. The saints, who are now the sanctified vessels of mercy, will be, to eternity, the glorified monuments of mercy. That he is a God of inviolable truth and faithfulness: His truth endures to all generations, and no word of his shall fall to the ground as antiquated or revoked. The promise is sure to all the seed, from age to age. Matthew Henry Commentary Psalm 100

“It does not matter what your circumstances are; the instant you begin to thank God, even though your situation has not changed, you begin to change. The key that unlocks the gates of heaven is a thankful heart. Entrance into the courts of God comes as you simply begin to praise the Lord.” Author~Francis Frangipane

1 Thessalonians 5:17-19

Be unceasing in prayer praying perseveringly; Thank God in everything no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks, for this is the will of God for you who are in Christ Jesus, the Revealer and Mediator of that will. Amplified Bible

God Blesses Families Who Have Reverent Hearts

Live In Each Season As It Passes – Breathe The Air, Drink The Drink, Taste The Fruit And Be Thankful. Quote By~Henry David Thoreau

Restoring Reverence In Our Family Homes

Praising God and expressing reverence is a missing piece in our family lives today. Respect is pretty much absent from our world and that is a symptom of families that need to expand and express the heart attitude of True Thanksgiving. Our families can begin this Thanksgiving on a great new God gratitude adventure and start developing our Awe of God! It is truly time to restore the heart of reverence in our family lives. It begins with prayer today, stirring up our heart’s desire asking God seed true thanksgiving in the spirit of everyone in our family, giving us an attitude of gratitude and developing our awe and reverence of God. The Word of God is a good place for our families to begin developing hearts of True Thanksgiving!

Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. New Living Translation

Developing A Heart Of True Thanksgiving

Knowing God Intimately

Knowing Who God Is, personally being in relationship with Him heart to heart is one of the goals we need to set in our family life. Our busy family lives seem to take over and our time together as a family with God gets set aside. It is not the amount of time you spend, but it is the quality of time. We must make that heart to Heart connection with God each day. We should be aware to point each other to Jesus every day, making Him the center of our family life. It is a good thing to start this every morning by encouraging each family member to make the first step out into their new day being a step down, bowed before God, making that spirit to spirit connection with God. So make it a point to spend some quality time with God, together as a family and reach for the goal of your family having a heart seeded in True Thanksgiving!

Trusting God First With An Undivided Heart Loyalty

We must develop our Awe of God to learn to trust Him with an undivided heart. Learning as a family to not hold on too tightly to what we have here, but to cling harder and dig our roots deeper in God our Father. We should develop our awe of God, expressing it daily within our homes. We need to be looking past this worldview and encouraging each other to think, act and lead with a Kingdom Perspective. We need to establish the second part of God’s purposeful providence in our family lives. We are in awe of the goodness of God, we need to express it daily, but we also need to be in awe of the future and the real inheritance our family has in the Kingdom of God. This part is totally left out of our family lives. We need to bring it back in. We don’t belong here, we belong to the Kingdom of God and we need to be in awe of the future God has provided our family. The purposes of God flow providentially in a twofold way. God is always looking out for our good, but He is also always looking to bring glory to His Kingdom. We have ignored this part and we need to begin stirring up this awe-gratefulness in our family lives and as we begin restoring the reverence for God in our family life, it will stir up in our family hearts of True Thanksgiving!

Expressing Whole-Hearted Gratefulness

Developing our awe of God truly does help us to learn to express our thanks to God and to each other! This seems to be a lost art in family life. Every family member should be looking out of eyes of selflessness and doing what it takes to add value to each other, yes we should. But we also should be adding value to God. We should be talking Him up in our homes with much wonder and awe. It should be natural for us to talk about the amazing God we serve, the amazing love we have in Him. Our homes should be a place of encouragement in the expression of awe and gratefulness of God. This is how we will have a family life of True Thanksgiving!

Using Prayer As The Key Part To True Thanksgiving

What are you thankful for about your family? This should be the first thing that you pray about, a sincere gratefulness for your family and the things of your family life that blesses you. Family prayer should always be led out with gratefulness. How can we improve on this as a family, because it is in our nature to lean into criticism and our discontent human nature more than we do gratitude and reverence? How do we need to pray for our families to develop an awe for God and a respect and reverence for Him and for one another? We need to be more communicative in gratitude and less in criticism. Talk to God in praise and gratitude for what He has done in your family, stir up your attitude of True Thanksgiving!

Flip-Flop The Order Of Criticism

Why is it easier to talk to a family member about something they do wrong, instead of what they do right? Very rarely do we compliment and tell other family members that we are thankful for them and why we are grateful for them. We need to step this up, this expressive gratitude with God first and then with our family members second. Because it is true that we do the same thing with God. We tell Him what is going wrong instead of looking at what is going right and thanking Him for that. Changing the order of this in our home communication, praise first, thanksgiving first, gratitude first before we say anything, this will truly help us to develop true thanksgiving in our hearts and set our homes with the atmosphere of gratitude and True Thanksgiving!

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.” Quote By-Cicero

How sweet is that! Awe-Gratefulness! Awe-Heart of True Thanksgiving! So be it in our families Lord God. Awe-Gratefulness!

He who thanks but with the lips Thanks but in part; The full, the true Thanksgiving comes from the heart. Quote By~J.A. Shedd

TRUE THANKSGIVING! BE IT! LIVE IT!

Compassion Helps Develop True Thanksgiving

Compassion develops a true thanksgiving in you and in others around you. Let’s work at being a family who accepts each other’s messiness and does not judge or condemn each other, but loves each other with the compassion of unconditional care and comes along side of each other to help clean up each other’s messes, growing through together. If someone in your family says they are not happy or they are hurting, then we must make sure that we as a family embrace them, putting our arms around them and hugging them with God’s love and compassion. Our home should be a place where people are cared for with God’s compassion that lends itself to the expression of gratefulness, Awe of God and True Thanksgiving!

Colossians 3:12 So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy, set apart, sanctified for His purpose and well-beloved by God Himself, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper; Amplified Bible

The value of compassion cannot be over-emphasized. Anyone can criticize. It takes a true believer to be compassionate. No greater burden can be borne by an individual than to know no one cares or understands. Quote By ~Arthur H. Stainback

Think About It:

Selflessness Develops A True Thanksgiving

In You And Others!

***At a time such as this, We must choose to lay down our lives, our favor, our earthly position, our dreams, our desires, our wants and take up the cause of God’s Kingdom- this is True Thanksgiving.

***We need to pray for our families that they will develop selflessness in their relationship with God and others.

***Selflessness always leads to a heart full of True Thanksgiving! When you look in your life-mirror, who do you see? Do you see yourself or do you see the Image-Reflection of Jesus?

***Ask this question: Jesus, am I willess and looking only to You, or am I trying to find what is best for me and looking to the world to make my wants happen?

***Think on this: Jesus am I dreaming only of You? Jesus are You my dream maker and the hope of my life? Am I set, positioned in your Kingdom Purpose and ready and available to Your Will?

***Do I have this attitude of gratitude: “I am forever grateful to You, Heavenly Father and it is with Thanksgiving that I step into this day praying for my family, shod with the shoes of gratefulness that walk me into the Presence of Jesus, with an undivided heart of timeless praise –from now unto forever”?

1 John 3:18 My children, we should love people not only with words and talk, but by our actions and true caring. New Century Version.

Express God’s Encouragement

God’s encouragement expressed lovingly and unconditionally in our homes develops a genuine heart of True Thanksgiving. Our homes should be a vessel of God’s encouragement and love expressed unconditionally. It gives God great joy seeing us share His love and encouragement with others in True Thanksgiving!

Seeding God’s Confidence In Others

Be aware of what your family members are “growing through”. Make sure you don’t miss the need in their lives because you are so self-focused. See the need in their lives and seed a God blessing into it. When you share God’s grace, mercy and peace with others, you are building His confidence in them and building their self-esteem through His Spirit. God will gift your family to care for each other in a personal way through God encouragement that intimately touches their soul and restores their self-image to a position of True Thanksgiving!

Speak The Assurance Of God’s Love

Be devoted as a family, to speak the assurance of God’s love to everyone who enters your home and to be a family whose house is known as a home of encouragement with a huge attitude of gratitude that sets the atmosphere for all who enter to enjoy and be blessed by God! The fruit of the Spirit of God, love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness and faithfulness should be given away freely to everyone who enters your home. Your home should have the reputation of having the fragrance of God in it, the fruit of God abundantly given from it. The fruit of the God is always seeded in awe-gratefulness. All things good begin with gratefulness, awe, respect and reverence. The assurance of God’s love is evident in a home overflowing with True Thanksgiving!

“Love does not inquire into the character of the recipient but it asks what he needs. It does not love him because he is such-and-such a person but because he is there. In all this it is quite the opposite of natural love: it “does not seek its own”. It does not perform the characteristic natural impulse of love and life. Therefore it is basically independent of the conduct of the other person; it is not conditional but absolute. It wants nothing for itself but only for others. Therefore it is also not vulnerable. It never ‘reacts” but is always “spontaneous”, emerging by its own strength – rather, from the power of God. Love is the real God-likeness of man for which he has been created. In so far as love is in man he really resembles God and shows himself to be the child of God.” Quote By Emil Brunner
