True Justice

Lord, We Pray You Bring Forth Your Justice In These Unjust Days. May Your Justice Break Forth Like The Morning Glory Of Son-Light Shattering A Long Dark Night.

One thousand of you will flee at the threat of one of them; at the threat of five you will flee till you are left like a beacon or a flagpole on the top of a mountain, and like a signal on a hill. And therefore the Lord earnestly waits, expecting, looking, and longing to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed, happy, fortunate, to be envied are all those who earnestly wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship! Isaiah 30:17-18 NLT

Darkness Settles Unjustly In – But Not For Long

There are so many injustices in this world that begin and end with the ugly side of our human condition. We are a people prone to selfishness and looking out for our own personal interests first and when this escalates as the influence of evil connects to it, things will not end well and justice is subverted. But this is not the end of the story, because our God is a God of justice. This incredible Way-Maker God, our Father God, the One Who sacrificed His own Son, Jesus, to make a way for true justice, this is Whom we trust in for our justice to prevail.

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. Isaiah 30:18-19

Flesh Was Raised Up – Jesus Was Lifted Higher

People will hurt you unjustly just to raise themselves up. They may want to climb higher in this world’s positions and titles and they will step on you to do so, without even thinking twice. Hurting people unjustly hurt people, they murder and injure others out of their pain from injustices they suffered, therefore injustice begets injustices. We unjustly suffer at the consequences of someone else’s sin, we don’t sin alone and one person’s sin unjustly hurts all those around them. Sin is not fair, it’s consequences can be devastating to the innocent, unjustly so. But God will make things right. He is a God of justice. When we have been hurt by the injustices of this world, and our soul is saturated with grief, we must turn and fully face our Father God and He will embrace our mourning with His justice.

For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. Their offspring shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed. Isaiah 61:8-9

Corrupted Heart Motive = Corrupted Justice

The justice systems of our nations get corrupted because our human hearts are so desperately wicked and can be swayed by political and financial agendas that are serving the motive of our spiritual enemy. Many are swept up in injustice because they have sacrificed their common sense on the altar of their political idols Bitterness and the exacting of revenge can be so very unjust, because people can’t see truth through lenses fogged up by resentment and they very often judge the situation, heart and motive of others incorrectly and inflict their retaliation revenge on the wrong people. When our heart motives are impure, then our justice is corrupted.

“You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.” Leviticus 19:15

Forceful Human Entitlement = Dysfunctional Justice

In this generation we have a sense of entitlement, we feel other people should be meeting our needs. People can never fully meet our needs, only God can. We were created to need God. When people disappoint us, we buck up our rights and forcefully take what we want and severe injustices occur to good people. We may have perverted the sense of justice, but God has not stopped being just. Jesus will bring forth justice, people will reap the wrong that they have sown. If justice does not occur on this side of heaven, it will eventually come forth in the full force of God’s judgement and fairness, as each person stands before God and is brought to personal accountability with no one to blame but themselves. Fully facing God, truth is seen and false narrative is lame with no crutch to support it, it falls.

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24

God Is The Author And Deliverer Of True Justice

Only God can exact true justice. Only God can see the heart and motive of a person clearly and only God knows the purposes that are in play in every situation, for good and justice. As a people living in a very unjust society, our sweet recourse is Jesus. Jesus died for us and He took on this whole wide world of unjust things. Jesus became a bridge for the justice of Awe-God to flow from the gates of heaven, to the shores of earth. Every injustice will be brought to full accounting before the Father God, there is no doubt about it. We need to let go and let God bring about His justice. We can’t rightfully serve up justice, but God, He can and He will. You may not ever see justice on this side of heaven in some situations, but you will see it, it will prevail in heaven. Our God Is Just.

Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law, to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage; for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it. Psalm 94: 12-15

True Justice Can Only Come From God

Men can’t even begin to point their finger at others without three fingers pointing back at them. There is so much evil deception and malicious intentions at play when the innocent is condemned as the guilty. Jesus experienced these divisive objectives as He was given over, condemned to die, because of malicious human motivations in play, but God used it for the good of all. Innocence sentenced, innocence died and true justice prevailed, a justice that only God Himself could bring about, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The consequence of true justice always trumps the consequences of sin. There is a war going on in the unseen and our part is to let God fight it, we are His intercessors, His servant warriors and we fight the good fight of faith through prayer, through being found as wholly-holy His, and living right, giving our lives to His service. This is spiritual warfare for us. As far as exacting our own vengeance, to make way for our own justice, it never quite works out in our favor. God is a God of justice and only He can bring justice forth truly, correctly and right. We stand with God, on the side of His truth and He enacts His True Justice.

Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law. Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it. Isaiah 42:1-9

Biblically, justice is defined in terms of righteousness. When God is just, He is doing what is right. Justice is giving what is due. Biblical justice is linked to righteousness, to doing what is right. Injustice is outside the category of justice and is a violation of justice. Mercy is also outside the category of justice but is not a violation of justice. Author~R.C. Sproul

The incentive to peacemaking is love, but it degenerates into appeasement whenever justice is ignored. To forgive and to ask for forgiveness are both costly exercises. All authentic Christian peacemaking exhibits the love and justice – and so the pain – of the cross. Author~John R. W. Stott

For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. Psalm 86
