Our Hearts

Wicked Men Obey From Fear; Good Men, From Love . Author~Augustine

thought

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.” Jeremiah 17:9-10 The Voice

God Searches Our Heart

We always think about other people when we read this verse, but it is true with ourselves too. We can’t know our heart or the condition of it, but when we stay in a vital-vertical relationship with Jesus, He can. He searches our heart, and examines our motives.

Hidden Motives

Motives are a really important thing because it what is makes us real and genuine. Hidden motives that differ in loyalties from the actions we are taking mean we are being very Pharisee like. We can be doing good, but for what reason? Is our good for the gain of God’s Kingdom or for personal gain?

Vital Vertical Relationship

A relationship with God is vital in these times where we are dealing with so much of our human condition up front and personal. Our hearts are prone to lean into our human ways, there is no doubt about it, we do. When we keep our lives holy-aligned with God, in a vital-vertical relationship with Him, heart to heart and spirit to spirit, He will search our heart and examine our secret motives and that which is dark in our heart, He will bring to the light of His Truth and expose it so we can align it with His Light.

Wholly-Holy Aligned

God’s Presence is vital for our actions to be those of civility, truth, love, hope and peace. In times such as these, changing times, we need to be attached to God, clinging to Him, digging our life roots deeply in His Kingdom. If we want to endure in our Christianity and not grow cold in our love, we must be loving God and knowing His personal touch upon our lives daily. Our constant conversation with God, it is vital, because we hear His Voice and dismiss and flesh out our personal wants, realigning with His Kingdom purposes.

“On every occasion of uneasiness, we should retire to prayer, that we may give place to the grace and light of God and then form our resolutions, without being in any pain about what success they may have. In the greatest temptations, a single look to Christ, and the barely pronouncing his name, suffices to overcome the wicked one, so it be done with confidence and calmness of spirit.” Author~ John Wesley

Live It Out

Children: obey your parents in every way. The Lord is well pleased by it. 21 Fathers: don’t infuriate your children, so their hearts won’t harbor resentment and become discouraged. 22 Slaves: obey your earthly masters in all things. Don’t just act earnest in your service only when they are watching. Serve with a sincere heart (even when others aren’t watching), fearing the Lord who is always watching! 23 So no matter what your task is, work hard. Always do your best as the Lord’s servant, not as man’s, 24 because you know your reward is the Lord’s inheritance. You serve the Lord, the Anointed One, and 25 anyone who does wrong will be paid his due because He doesn’t play favorites. Colossians 3:20-24

“Whatever failure you and I make of our lives, we do not make because God forces us to do so. In whatever way we go wrong, we do not do so because God planned that we should. We do it because of our own willfulness and wicked rebellion against God.” Author~Clovis G. Chappell
