Hindered Trust

Trust isn’t mingled with God’s love unless you let go and trust unconditionally, not fearing a broken heart. God loved us, even though it hurt. Jesus trusted in the power of His Love, to grow through the irrational thoughtlessness of humanity. KimberlyMac

God’s Purposeful Ways

Our family life is better when it is stabilized by trust. Within the walls of each of our homes are many hindrances to the ability to trust God. We have a willfulness that needs to be broken before a perfect trust can be shaped into our family life. Many times, the trials our family grows through are the very things that are purposefully designing a beautiful trust as the décor of our family living room. In our family homes and relationships, we hope for trust that is supported strongly by our personal surrender and conscious dependence on God. Let it be so in our family life. Let’s pray through this today for our family. Let’s break down the walls of hindrance that keep our family from experiencing trust.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

“Why should God have to lead us in this way and allow the pressure to be so hard and constant? It teaches us trust. It makes us more conscious of our dependence on Him. This was the place where Jesus Himself stood and where He wants us to stand, no with self-constituted strength but with a hand ever leaning on His and a trust that dare not take one step alone.” L. B. Cowman

Pray It Up:

Lord God, keep our family from walking independently of You. We acknowledge we need You, Jesus and we pray You guide us in all of our ways as You teach us a dependent, consistent trust in You. Thwart our independence which hinders trust and change our focus from a worldly viewpoint to a kingdom perspective. Change it up for our family. Help us to lean all of our family into the Promise of You being with us, the hope of not being forsaken, not being destroyed, but purposefully growing through to a perfect trust. Wholly-holy align this family with the power of Your Truth saturating our souls in our heart-to-Heart dependence on You, Jesus. Strengthen each family member’s vital-vertical relationship with You, therefore strengthening our family trust.

Pride Stirs Up Family Strife

Pride never really stands alone in our family life, it always has unsavory things with it, such as selfishness, self-centeredness, and self-interests that are way out of the line of a normal caring relationship. These hindrances to trust do damage to our family relationships, causing all kinds of strife within our family. God even told us ahead of time that these were things we needed to be wary of in our lives, so naturally we know that they wreak havoc in our families. Strife in all the ways it is expressed will never promote a healthy family unity and that is why we work with God to keep it out of our home.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Pray It Up:

Lord God, we pray for our family, we ask you to thwart the hindrance of pride that keeps our trust in You minimal, and our trust in our family members nonexistent. Holy Spirit, teach us how extremely valuable it is in our family life to have selfless attitudes and actions, to be interested in each other more than we are ourselves. Trust can’t grow in a covetous atmosphere, it hinders it and eventually all together stifles it. Shatter the mirror we keep looking at to see our image projected and let us live as a reflection of all things You, Jesus. We pray You protect our family life from the hindrance that being lovers of self-first, transports into our home. Jesus teach us what true selflessness is, help us to be lovers of You first, others second, and ourselves last. Order our priorities by kingdom truth’s that encourage the powerful meekness modeled at the Cross of Cavalry.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Doubt Creates Messy Family Life

Doubt stirs up some stinky emotions in our family homes. Doubt opens the door to fear and when fear comes it quickly it sneaks in anger, anxiety and self-pity a combination where unfortunately, there is always a seed of unbelief planted in the home garden. What an incredible hindrance doubt is to trust between us and God and also among family members. When trust does not develop in our relationships, doubt flies liberally from person to person without a blockade of faith to curtail it. What a mess doubt makes in the family living room because it freely ushers in fear, anger and strife. Doubt, needless to say, leaves behind not a very fun atmosphere for family life enjoyment. Unthwarted anger makes for a home full of strife and produces a hindered trust.

Worry is blind and cannot discern the future, but Jesus sees the end from the beginning. In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief. – Ellen White

Pray It Up:
Holy Spirit we pray You would thwart the intentions of the enemy when it comes to using doubt against our family. We ask You Jesus to draw us to Your Word of truth and dispel doubt from the heart of our family life, exchanging it for what is truth, salt and light. If we have symptoms of fear, anger and strife in our family life that hinder our trust in You and each other, we pray You divinely interrupt and intervene on behalf of our family and dispel this doubt. Increase our faith, increase our hope, increase our courage and increase the trust of our family in You. We pray for doubt to be fully dumbed down by the Promises in Your Word thwarting it. Father God, we ask You to sweep out of our family living rooms everything left behind by doubt. Holy Spirit cleanse us of all fear, all anger, all self-pity, and let every single hindrance of anxiety be gone by the power of Your cleansing in the heart of our family. In Jesus Name. AMEN.

God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8
