God’s Promises

Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. How I long for your precepts! Preserve my life in your righteousness. May your unfailing love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise; then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word. Psalm 119:38-42

A Soul Joy Peaked By Promises

Deuteronomy 10:15 But the LORD loved your people very much long ago. You are their children. And he chose you above all of the other nations. His love and his promise remain with you to this very day. New International Readers Version

God’s promise to us has been a forever one and is still extended in our today, this is our true joy. We all look for joy and try to plug that need with happiness, instead of reaching out and clinging to the promises of God. Things that are promised, but are not yet seen are faith activating. Faith does not always make us feel happy and we should not seek after happiness, we should seek after the promises of God. Happiness is temporary, joy is permanent. God’s joy does not require us to feel every day happiness. God’s joy is at its peak when we are holding on to the promises of God.

A Soul Satisfied By God Promises

Be good to your servant, God; be as good as your Word. Train me in good common sense; I’m thoroughly committed to living your way. Before I learned to answer you, I wandered all over the place, but now I’m in step with your Word. You are good, and the source of good; train me in your goodness. The godless spread lies about me, but I focus my attention on what you are saying; They’re bland as a bucket of lard, while I dance to the tune of your revelation. My troubles turned out all for the best– they forced me to learn from your textbook. Truth from your mouth means more to me than striking it rich in a gold mine. Psalm 119:65 The Message

The promises of God are the main difference between having a short lived worldly happiness or a forever kingdom joy. Where is our confidence? Is it in the things of this world? Is it in God’s promises? Joy is the fruit of a person who is confidently clinging to the Vine of Jesus Christ and being nurtured by His promises. We have a joyful confidence when our vital-vertical relationship with God is weaved into and braided with His promises. There is nothing in this life that satisfies our soul like the promises of God.

A Purified Soul – Saturated In Promises

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 1 Corinthians 7:1 NIVUK

“How much time do you spend in the Presence of God, in the Promises of God? We need to know God, we need to know that His promise is good because He is good. Promises are as good as the person who makes them. We are promised and God is our Promiser! When we step out of our problems, we need to step on to the foundation of the promises of God, because it has the structure and the power to hold us up so we don’t sink in the mire of this world, but we walk above it all. We need a vital-vertical relationship with God and His promises. The best way to travel this great God adventure is with our soul being saturated in the promises of God. Let’s never be found without God’s Presence and promises, always walking hand in hand with God, The Promiser and His powerful promises because this activates a crazy faith in our lives.

Job 4:6

Reverence sets us apart in our love for God and is the strength we need to cling to His promises. Our love for Jesus is completed by reverence. A stumbling block for reverence is that we are a wee bit too casual at times in our relationship with God. There is something very reverent about having a Father God. Reverent worship of God builds our confidence in His Promises and activates our faith in a powerful way. Developing our awe of God, gives us a hopeful kingdom perspective, as our reverence of God ascribes the worth of His love upon our confident belief in His promises. Reverence is a soul attitude that grows our assurance in the promises of God and transitions us from talking religiously about “the God” of our salvation to talking up “my God” of hope and promise.
