The Word of God is full of verses to help people who are dealing with the deceits of others who are trying to defame their reputation. God promises us that deceptive betrayal will be handled by Him. Our part of the equation is to keep our focus on God. God is the keeper of our reputation.
“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12 NIV
Okay here is the scenario, you may have a person, or a third party lawyer who is trying to discredit you because it is their job to do so, but then you have God, Who is in the business of keeping your reputation. Which one do you think will win out in the end? The hardest thing in life is not to take up an offense, to let go and let God handle things. If we take up an offense, and we react and we spew heated emotions out of our mouth, then we become just as bad as the false accuser, we also become a babbling fool.
God is able to protect every part of our lives including our reputation. We must not step into the battle, it is His to fight. Our focus in every battle is our Warrior Advocate, Jesus. If there is someone trying to mess with your reputation, what can you do that can actually help your case? It is your word against theirs, so doing is not the answer, being is. Be found in Jesus. The approval you chase after should be HIS, because His approval is the only one that matters. A lawyer who is paid to make you look bad, doesn’t know you, doesn’t care to know you, they are just out to win a case. So you don’t have to prove anything to them. Just simply-significantly-confidently answer their false statements with: That is not true. Period!
The Lord’s name is literally “over” the people of Israel, providing shelter and protection. Anyone who wants to harass them has to answer to Him, so His great reputation will keep them safe from marauders. If they are trusting and obedient, they will be protected from spiritual dangers and attacks by the power and reputation of the One who has called them by His own name. Deuteronomy 33:2 The Voice
When you put a period on your sentence of truth, period for you, means this is where God takes over. He is a Way-Maker God when it comes to truth and He will shine His light on all deception and TRUTH will be revealed, the scriptures are chocked full on this issue. Dig deeper in them and see that when you are in a situation where someone is lying about you, discrediting your reputation, your best, safest place is in God’s Hands. Don’t run off independently trying to prove your innocence, just speak the truth, firmly and lovingly and let God do the rest. Don’t take up an offense against the person defaming you, pray for them, forgive them and let GOD work, give God the opportunity to work on your behalf, because He and HE alone is wholly-holy for you, His motive are pure and purposeful.
God knows who you are. What a false witness says doesn’t change what God knows. Therefore, you really don’t have anything to prove to a person with a fabricated testimonial. Most people are discredited by lawyers because they pick up the offense, taking personally the lawyers web weaving of a hypothetical story about your life, that is not even close to who you are. Bantering back and forth with a false witness, who doesn’t really give a flip about who you are, is not a good or wise use of your time and it makes you look bad and that is what their hidden agenda is. You can’t fix a broken system by losing it emotionally and angrily trying to defend yourself. Simply-Significantly speaking: “That Is NOT True” will suffice and leaving the proving to God is the best option, that way you don’t play into the hidden motive of your accuser, you play into the purposes of God.
Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. Exodus 14:13-14 Amplified Bible
God is the ONLY One Who can strike down what is false and bring the hidden truth out of the dark into the LIGHT. LET HIM. Cling to HIM, Dig your life roots deeply in His Kingdom. God is the truth Way-Maker and He is able to do it. You Have A Triune Advocate! God Is The Proof, Jesus Is The Proven, The Holy Spirit Is The Prover!
Let BE, Be Still, KNOW He is God, He Is For Truth, He Is For His People Walking In Righteousness. God is Your Favor, God Is Your Way-Maker, God Is Your Protection, God Is Your Truth Provider! Let HIM Be So! You, be found in Him, walk in His love, character, strength, confidence and truth and believe in Him, speak the truth confidently and in love, and side step the bait of satan’s offense, guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of your life, these are the things you are responsible for in this trial. Be Wholly-Holy His – Completely Dependent On Him. This is what I pray for you, because you don’t answer to your accusers, you answer to GOD and He is able to defend you, He is Your Advocate.
