And I know the Lord will continue to rescue me from every trip, trap, snare, and pitfall of evil and carry me safely to His heavenly kingdom. May He be glorified throughout eternity. Amen. 2 Timothy 4:18 The Voice

“My God, I have never thanked You for my thorn. I have thanked You a thousand times for my roses, but not once for my thorn. I have been looking forward to a world where I can get compensation for my cross; but I have never thought of my cross as itself a present glory. Teach me the glory of my cross; teach me the value of my thorn. Show me that I have climbed to You by the path of pain. Show me that my tears have made my rainbows.” Author ~ George Matheson.

In our family life we suffer and grow through many things. We all have our thorns, we all have crosses to bear, we all know the path of pain, but we also know in every God given challenge, the God graced purpose in the challenge is always greater than the challenge itself.

Don’t run from tests and hardships, brothers and sisters. As difficult as they are, you will ultimately find joy in them; if you embrace them, your faith will blossom under pressure and teach you true patience as you endure. And true patience brought on by endurance will equip you to complete the long journey and cross the finish line—mature, complete, and wanting nothing. James 1:2-4 The Voice

God is purposefully working in our family life and He is shaping His character into the heart of our homes. Our horizontal family in vertical relationship with Him, makes a cross that points people to Jesus, to our future and hope in Him.

“The words that hurt you, the letter which gave you pain, the cruel wound of your dearest friend, shortness of money–all known to Him who sympathizes as none else can and watches to see if through all, you will dare to trust Him wholly.” Author L.B. Cowman

Our family is tested daily in this world. It is a God given good world for our family, but it has human issues that test our family and cause pain. Words are a big part of the things our family faces every single day. Some of them are kind, encouraging, wise and add great value to our lives and some are mean, hurtful, divisive and devalue us. There is joy and there is sorrow in the words our family faces each and every day. There is stretching in the tests of this life and we are caused to “grow through” with God, to dare to trust Him in that wholly-holy way that pleases His heart and brings a smile to His face. We are His family and when we are weak, He is so very strong in us.

I am at peace and even take pleasure in any weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and afflictions for the sake of the Anointed because when I am at my weakest, He makes me strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 The Voice
